Yoga

Yoga is a Sanskrit word meaning "union" or "yoke,". It is a practice of self discovery that unites the body, mind and spirit, and can act as an effective tool in attaining better health. The physical benefits of Hatha Yoga such as improved strength and flexibility are what initially draw many into Yoga, but some may also be tantalised by the rich and diverse philosophy that underpins the practice.

Hatha Yoga primarily deals with Asanas (physical postures) and Pranayama (breathing) by working both dynamically and in a Vinyasa Flow style (Vinyasa means breath synchronised movement). Our classes help you to build strength, balance and flexibility. Working in unison with the breath as well as using guided relaxation and meditation techniques we can help create a feeling of relaxation, release and harmony.

A typical class moves from a gentle warm up, connecting with our breath and awakening the body. We may then progress onto a more active and dynamic flow of movements before finally moving to a replenishing relaxation, an opportunity to be quiet and reflect on the practice.

If you would like to attend a weekly class then please visit the calendar page for details of available sessions. Some classes are for gym members only, while others are open to anyone.
